Osteopathy Consultation

Pregnancy, being a magical and unique moment for woman, is also a delicate phase during which the body goes through several changes, physical, emotional, and hormonal.

Although pregnancy is a natural physiological process, the changes that happen during the nine months can sometimes be the cause of minor injuries and complaints associated with pain. One example is the increasing weight of the baby, which alters the woman’s center of gravity and posture, causing greater effort on the lumbosacral area, spine, and pelvis. This can result in back pain or sciatica.

Osteopathy is a manual therapy that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and pathologies related to mechanical and posture changes that alter the normal functioning of the body. It has a holistic and global approach, which is why the treatment is directed to the person as a whole, not limited to the area where the dysfunction occurs.

These are some of the imbalances that can occur in pregnancy and to which osteopathy can contribute:

  • symphysis pubis pain
  • swollen and sore legs
  • heartburn and gastric reflux
  • foot pain
  • carpal tunnel syndrome

The action of osteopathy is not only limited to the resolution and relief of musculoskeletal problems, it can also be extend to the scope of prevention. To do an osteopathic “check-up” means ensuring that there are no restrictions or imbalances in the different parts of the body that may hinder the childbirth. Correcting small changes and favoring the normal functioning of the body is a way to ensure the most natural and pleasant birth possible.
