During puberty, many changes are felt and experienced by girls, until the ultimate metamorphosis that transforms them into women. For a healthy and positive experience in all stages of this metamorphosis, it is essential that each girl/woman knows, accepts and welcomes these transformations.
This consultation, carried out by a midwife, was created with the aim of helping girls to explore the transformations they are going through and to learn about those that are still to come, in order to accept, integrate and welcome these changes in a healthy and positive way.
Some of the topics most frequently discussed in consultation include:
- first menstruation: preparing for its arrival/news of its arrival
- menstrual health: women’s intimate hygiene; advantages, disadvantages and how to use disposable and reusable sanitary napkins, menstrual underwear, tampons and menstrual cups
- menstrual cycle: feelings and behaviours throughout the cycle
- transformations of the woman’s body: knowing what kind of transformations occur during puberty and knowing the woman’s body and the female pleasure zones
The consultation can be carried out with or without the presence of the parents (in the second case, the parents need to give consent for a private consultation with the child).
These consultations can take place at UTERUS facilities, at home or digitally.
