Being a psychologist, for me, means choosing to live in a constant process of learning and transformation.
This is the perspective I have been building throughout my professional journey, one that allows me to look at others in the same way I have learned to look at myself: as someone in continuous (re)construction.
I graduated from the University of Coimbra, where I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology and where I am currently developing my PhD project. Along the way, I have been shaping an integrative perspective and deepening different tools and approaches that allow me to support the people who seek my help.
Sleep is one of the central areas of my work. Over the years, this focus has helped me understand that our nights tell a great deal of our story… If we are safe, why doesn’t the body relax and the mind switch off? Sometimes, it is because we do not truly feel safe – not externally, but internally.
Thus, without ever distancing myself from the field of sleep, in which I continue to work, I began to develop a broader perspective. Today, my work also involves recognising the marks of trauma and accompanying the processes that emerge from these wounds.
Trauma does not always arise from something that happened to us; often, it comes from what was missing… safety, validation, someone who truly saw us. It may have been an overwhelming moment that became “frozen” within us, or small moments that were silenced. Ultimately, trauma is everything that, at the time, we were unable to process and that therefore remains alive within us, shaping how we feel, how we connect with others, and how we live our lives. These are stories that remain held in the body.
Today, I work so that these stories can be seen and cared for, and I believe in the profound change that emerges from the love we learn to have for ourselves and for our own history.
This is the commitment I share with UTERUS, where I see my values reflected and where I share a home with a multidisciplinary team that embraces an integrative and deeply human approach.
