Many women wonder when is the best time to start or return to physical activity after giving birth. Actually, there are no rules. Each body responds differently, and therefore, in this phase of “transition”, it is important that they are accompanied by a professional who knows how to read and interpret the signals that the body gives, helping it to recover in the safest and most appropriate way, with strategies adapted to the characteristics and goals of each woman.
At UTERUS, you can count on a team of Physiotherapists to help you in this journey, during the postpartum recovery sessions.
In these sessions, the exercises are personalized and adapted to your goals and your body’s response, with particular focus on:
- regaining strength, endurance and flexibility, with special focus on the abdominal and pelvic region
- knowing and enhancing the function of the muscles of the perineum
- increasing your body awareness and “re-finding” your posture
- relieve tension and possible discomfort
- clarify doubts and obtain orientation about the challenges and needs of the postpartum period
The sessions can be started as early as one month after the birth.
To enroll in the sessions, it is necessary to previously perform a Postpartum Check-up Consultation. This consultation allows the physical therapist to evaluate your general state of health and your needs and goals for this period, in order to elaborate an adequate exercise plan according to this evaluation. Also during this consultation, the physical therapist will teach you the basic principles that apply to each exercise, so that you can later perform the exercises in the plan with the necessary accuracy and safety. The consultation can be done in person or digitally. In-person consultation is the most recommended as it allows for a more detailed evaluation, but if this is not possible, digital consultation is also a viable alternative.
Sessions can be held in groups or individually, at UTERUS facilities, digitally, or at your home.
FACE-TO-FACE GROUP SESSIONS
The face-to-face sessions take place as a group, but each participant will have his or her own personalized exercise plan.
You can attend the sessions once or twice a week, according to your availability.
Classes have a maximum number of 6 participants.
Baby’s presence is not mandatory but welcome 🙂 If the class schedule coincides with your baby’s feeding time, you may arrive at UTERUS earlier before class or stay as long as you need after class, so that your mother/baby routines develop smoothly.
Each participant should bring their own towel.
HOURS:
Sessions take place from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm and from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

DIGITAL SESSIONS
If you choose the online modality, the physical therapist will prepare an exercise plan adapted to your goals and needs, which will be updated once a week, in order to always maintain a safe and demanding level to achieve your goals. Each exercise will be accompanied by a demonstration video. You can perform the exercise plan on the days and times that are most convenient for you, in the comfort of your own home.
During the month, you will also have 1 or 2 hours of live support included, by video call, with the physiotherapist. You can use this time to ask questions about the exercises, to allow the physical therapist to make corrections in real time, or to decide the ideal progression for you.
INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS
Individual sessions can be held at UTERUS, at home or digitally (live), at a time to be determined.
