Continuous Support for Pregnancy, Birth, Postpartum and Breastfeeding

At Clínica UTERUS, we have a highly qualified team of Midwives specialised in promoting physiology during pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period, and breastfeeding, providing care with science, safety, privacy, warmth, and respect.

The Midwife who accompanies you in your prenatal consultations can also assist you during labour and birth, remaining on-call and available 24/7. As soon as you suspect that labour has started, you contact your midwife by phone; she will come to meet you to confirm the diagnosis of the onset of labour (fees attached).

The Midwife supports the woman at home during the early phase of labourguiding and accompanying her to the hospital once active labour begins, and continuing her support there until the baby is born.

Once admitted to the hospital, the clinical management is taken over by the hospital’s labour ward team. The UTERUS Midwife continues to provide emotional support and comfort measures — such as massage, encouragement of mobility, and positioning that facilitate a normal birth.

After birth, you can also rely on the same Midwife for support with physical recovery, adjustment to the new roles of motherhood and fatherhood, as well as breastfeeding and newborn care.

If you would like further information, guidance, and support in making decisions about your birth options, we suggest scheduling a birth plan consultation.

Support during pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, or the postpartum period may be required separately. However, labor support always implies some follow-up during pregnancy.

Our team’s care is based on the basic principles of the Midwifery Model of Care and includes:

  • analyzing the health signs and promoting the overall balance of the pregnant woman (body, mind, and spirit)
  • informing you about the actual options available at each stage of pregnancy and birth, and their associated risks and benefits
  • supporting you in the preparation of the birth plan
  • offering you a 24/24hour phone support
  • availability to ensure continuity of care
  • informing, training, and encouraging you for the use of non-pharmacological methods for comfort and progression of labor (massage, rebozo, positioning, breathing techniques, vocalizations, among others)
